Add page numbers to a PDF

Add page numbers wherever you want, in the format your assignment or form asks for. The file never leaves your device.

Processed in this browser: your file is never uploaded to any server. Turn on airplane mode once the page has loaded and it keeps working. Check it yourself

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF.
  2. Pick where the number goes, the format and the starting page. The preview shows how it looks.
  3. Tap “Number and download”.

Good to know

  • The number is written as real PDF text, in Helvetica, 1.2 cm (about half an inch) from the edge.
  • If a page is rotated, the number still comes out upright and in the corner you chose.
  • For essays and theses, the cover usually has no number: start numbering on page 2.
  • If you’re combining several files, merge them first with Merge PDF and number at the end.

Questions

Could the number cover something on the page?

It can happen if the page has text right at the edge. Check the preview and, if they clash, change the position or the size.

Can I remove the numbers later?

Not with this tool: the number becomes part of the page. Keep the original just in case.
